A reef knot is a simple knot that can be used for many things which is often confused with a granny knot, which is much easier to undo. This video will show you how to tie a reef knot, how to capsize a reef knot, and to tie a granny knot.

The clove hitch is an ancient knot, made of two single hitches tied around an object. It is most often used to secure objects it crosses over.  

The square lashing is a knot that is commonly used to bind two poles together at a 90 degrees.  Often used to make things, It is a useful knot every scout should know.

The Bowline is most commonly used for forming a fixed loop, large or small at the end of a line. Tried and tested over centuries, this knot is reliable, strong and stable. Even after severe tension is applied it is easy to untie. However, because it does untie so easily it should not be trusted in a life or death situation such as mountain climbing.
